A Young man with a Goal to work in Public Relations

     Hello and welcome all readers of my blog! I am glad you all were able to come across my post and can take a look into the understanding of my life! To give a little bit of insight into my journey, when I was in High School, and my early years of college, I started to take note that friends and classmates of mine were starting to pass by me on the ladder to success. I had no plan! But wait, there is more. I found myself in a bit of a “hole” but worked to venture out and find out what interests me. I found myself starting to push myself out of my comfort zone and start working with groups, putting myself in more positions to public speak, and being more communicative with Professors to dip deep into their profession in Communication. This is when I realized, I want to work in PR and Digital Marketing!

    To give a background of who I am, currently, I am a Junior at High Point University studying Public Relations and Advertising in Strategic Communications. I am involved in Greek Life at HPU! Yes, I am a frat bro. It is a big part of my life as well. I am a Greek brother of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity and serve on the Executive Council for my Chapter. Being a student in Communication and constantly having to be verbal amongst others and serving on the EC having to watch 50 Frat dudes had provided me with an abundance of life skills. Skills that range from leadership, dominance, and being authoritative!

    I truly enjoy spending time with my frat brothers, working out, and listening to all genres of music, except Opera, that sucks! I recently have started to like learning more about the career I want to go into, my mom would be proud! Whenever I have free time on my hands, I peruse LinkedIn for opportunities that involve occupations in Marketing, Communications, Advertising, and Public Relations. I am very intrigued by following successful influencers in social media and PR like Dan Bilzerian and Zach King! It is cool to see the techniques they use in social media and public relations that have gotten them their success.

    I came to High Point University majoring in Media Production and Entrepreneurship. I was a little Freshman that was enrolled in the introduction course, I hated it! I was the youngest student in there, I was not good with adobe, and got a 45% on my midterm! I called my parents and my success coach and told them I’m out of here! In the next semester, I took this class called Founders in Strategic Communications with Phil Watson. Major upgrade! Professor Watson was so funny and engaging with the class. He provided his students with engaging activities and assignments that had help me dive more into the careers of PR, social media, or Digital Marketing! I loved speaking in class, working as a team to create advertisements for companies to display to the class, and researching other Public Relations Firms. It was great!

    To wrap up, at the end of the day, I may be a funny, social, and immature 20-year-old. But I know what I want. One day I see myself owning a PR Firm, that concentrates on social media and Digital Marketing. This is where I see myself. From the experiences of taking my course with Professor Watson and working together with my Frat bros to achieve a goal, I know what is best for me. Thank you again for reading, and peace out blog!
